Discovering The Joy of 2020

/ The Process
The project started as a continuation of my ‘Dissenting Voice’ outcome. However, a year on and fully into the COVID Pandemic, the quote did not feel relevant anymore; society was more lost than ever. So instead, I planned to document the joy amongst the chaos and terror of the COVID-19 lockdowns.
I came up with an online archive called “Discovering the Joy of 2020”. I asked many random people to submit a photo showing a moment of joy alongside a brief explanation.
My concept for this archive was to show how unreliable our memory can be, and we can easily forget those mundane moments of happiness. I conveyed this whilst navigating the archive, by using shape and colour to slowly reveal the moments of joy.

/ Final Outcome

I created my final outcome on Adobe XD. I used the bright colours and shapes to signify ‘redacted’ parts of memory.
