Traces of Seperation

/ The Process
This was my final project for university I developed it alongside my dissertation “Picturing Crisis”. I was looking at how graphic design can encompass the time we are in.
I developed the idea of unreliable memory from my “Discovering the Joy of 2020” project. From this I ended up creating a book documenting the end of the COVID 19. By visualising the decay of social distancing floor signs through using different practical methods of print.
My main concept was to convey to the reader that we were moving on from the painful recent past and this book is here to serve as an archive to that specific moment in time.

/ Final Outcome

This book is Stab Bound with a Swiss Bind cover. The main prints are in an A3 format. At the front is a smaller A5 “Context” booklet documenting the signs in their surroundings. At the back there is a concertina of woodcut prints disappearing along the page.
